Weight Loss Therapy
Sustainable weight management is about more than a number on the scale. Elira’s medically supervised program combines personalized clinical guidance, ongoing monitoring, nutrition and lifestyle support, and when appropriate, prescription treatment with semaglutide, tirzepatide or other prescription weightloss medication.
Support designed around your health, not a one-size-fits-all plan.
Your program begins with a medical evaluation to determine whether prescription weight-management treatment is appropriate for you. Your provider will consider your health history, current medications, weight-related conditions, previous efforts, goals, and potential risk factors before developing a plan.
Semaglutide and tirzepatide.
Both medications are generally administered once weekly and work on pathways involved in appetite, fullness, and food intake. They are not interchangeable, and the right option depends on your medical profile, treatment goals, tolerance, access, and provider recommendation.
GLP-1 Receptor Agonist
Semaglutide mimics GLP-1, a naturally occurring hormone involved in appetite regulation and food intake. An FDA-approved formulation for chronic weight management in eligible patients when used with reduced-calorie nutrition and increased physical activity. Treatment begins at a low dose and is gradually increased as directed.
GIP + GLP-1 Receptor Agonist
Tirzepatide acts on both GIP and GLP-1 pathways involved in appetite and metabolic regulation. An FDA-approved formulation for chronic weight management in eligible adults when combined with reduced-calorie nutrition and increased physical activity. Dosing is gradually increased under medical supervision.
Am I a Candidate
FDA-approved weight-management medications may be considered for adults with obesity, or adults with overweight who also have at least one weight-related health condition. Eligibility is not determined by BMI alone; a complete medical evaluation is required before any medication is prescribed.
Choosing Your Option
Neither medication is automatically better for every patient. Your provider will review contraindications, health conditions, medication interactions, treatment history, side-effect concerns, and practical factors before recommending the safest appropriate path.
Guidance at every stage.
Before Treatment
Your provider will review your medical and family history, medications, allergies, pregnancy plans, weight history, and goals. Additional evaluation or laboratory testing may be recommended based on your individual health needs.
Starting the Program
When prescribed, treatment generally begins with a lower dose and increases gradually according to the medication’s dosing schedule, your response, and your tolerance. Never increase, combine, or change medication without direction from your prescribing provider.
Results & Maintenance
Weight change is gradual and individual. Progress is influenced by medication response, nutrition, physical activity, sleep, health conditions, and adherence. Ongoing follow-up helps your provider evaluate effectiveness and adjust the plan when clinically needed.
Side Effects & Monitoring
Common effects can include nausea, diarrhea, vomiting, constipation, and abdominal discomfort. Serious risks and contraindications also apply. Contact your provider about concerning symptoms and seek urgent care for severe or emergency symptoms.
